Smarter Human-Robot Collaboration

What if robots could understand human gestures and work seamlessly alongside us? Within the project Sestosenso, researchers from the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and international partners are developing advanced sensor technologies to enhance human-robot collaboration in real-world environments.

In this video, we explore an innovative system designed to support grape harvesting: workers wear a sensorised exoskeleton that reduces physical strain, while intelligent sensors enable robots to perceive their surroundings and interpret human movements.

Thanks to AI-based gesture recognition, robots can respond intuitively, assisting workers safely and efficiently. Beyond agriculture, these technologies have the potential to transform industrial settings such as automotive assembly lines, construction and other tasks that require prolonged or uncomfortable postures.
